Volleyball hosts the 19th Rose Hill Classic this weekend


Bronx, NY – Fordham volleyball (2-1) hosts Fairleigh Dickinson (1-2), Niagara (1-2) and Penn (0-0) in the Bronx for the 19th this weekende Classic Rose Hill. The Rams kick off against the Knights at 11 a.m. Friday, then face the Purple Eagles at 6 p.m. On Saturday, Fordham takes on Penn at 2 p.m.

Audrey Brown Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

The Birmingham, Michigan native dazzled in her opening weekend, scoring 40 kills while hitting a team-high .395, 14 digs and nine blocks by far, to become the fifth Ram in program history to win the first Weekly Conference Rookie of the Year. hug.

Series history

FDU – The Rams have led the all-time series, 7-3, since 1976, one of the program’s first contests. Fordham is 3-1 in the Bronx all-time, but fell in four sets the last time they met, in 2014.

Niagara – The Purple Eagles lead, 3-2, all-time since 1991. The Rams won twice in 2006-07 but fell in four sets the last time they met in 2015.

Penn – The two schools have only met once, a three-set victory for the Quakers at home in 2002.

Review of the 2021 season

Fordham made program history last November when he won multiple Atlantic 10 Championship games and finished second overall to the Rams. The Rams finished 10-20 overall and 5-11 in conference, taking the sixth seed and beating St. Louis and VCU to set up a date with champion Dayton. Whitley Moody was named Second Team All-Conference while the duo of Megan Brzozowski and Mallory Lipski earned spots on the All-Championship Team.

Preview of the 2022 season

The Rams have seen four Rams graduate, including Bella Urena, which had the second-most kills on the team a year ago, and two others are leaving the program, but returning much of the team’s production while adding a recruiting class of five players. Meanwhile, on the sidelines, Alyssa Kaufman was elevated to Associate Head Coach after three years with the program.

Fordham has an 11-game non-conference slate, with all 19e Rose Hill Classic as well as tournaments in North Dakota and Yale. The 2022 conference schedule features 18 games, with all but two being played in a two-game home or away series on Fridays and Saturdays. Only the series against Rhode Island is a home & home. New A-10 addition Loyola Chicago to host Rams on September 30e and October 1st. The 2022 Atlantic 10 Championship will be hosted by Saint Louis.

USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award

For the third straight year and fourth time in the past five years, the Rams have won a United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award, holding a GPA of 3.3 or higher for the entire 2021-22 academic year. 12 student-athletes have also been placed on the Atlantic Commissioner’s Honor Roll 10, which requires a GPA of 3.0 or better for the year.

Atlantic 10 Pre-Season Poll

The league’s head coaches voted in the annual pre-season poll and Fordham was chosen to finish seventh. Dayton was selected to successfully defend their title, garnering eight first-place votes, with VCU getting the other two votes and picked second, followed by newcomers Loyola Chicago in third.


Fordham will travel to Grand Forks, North Dakota for the UND Classic and will face the Fighting Hawks as well as Montana State next Friday and Saturday.
