Jaipur: The Mewar region has its name engraved in golden words like a land that gave the bravest of the brave. It is on this land that brave warriors like Maharana Pratap fought some of the fiercest battles and brought his opponents to their knees. Many regiments of the Indian army have their origins in the former princely states and one of these regiments is the 9e Battalion of the Grenadier Regiment which use the suffix Mewar with the name of their unit.
In order to trace and reinvigorate the history of the valor and sacrifice of the great warriors of the Mewar region, 9E GRENADIERS (Mewar) organizes the ‘Mewar Trail’ – under the theme – ‘VeeronkeTyag aur Balidan ki Dharti’. A team of strong Desert Corps soldiers will walk approximately 550 km over 19 days, visiting famous places that bear witness to the sacrifice of the brave people of the Mewar region. During its journey, the expedition will pass through Haldighati, Kumbhalgarh, Dewair, Chittorgarh and be reported in Udaipur on October 27, 2021. The en route team will also interact and congratulate the veterans and Veer Naris of the 1971 war – such as the best possible tribute to them.
It is with great pride that the descendants of the legendary Maharana Pratap – Shriji Maharana Arvind Singhji Mewar and family are directly associated with this historic and enterprising activity – thus revitalizing their centuries-old association with the Indian military. The event is expected to be reported by Lt Gen JS Nain, AVSM, SM, GOC-in-C, Southern Command with Mr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar on October 08, 2021. The occasion will also be honored by GOC, Konark Corps and & GOC , Division of the battle ax. These formidable formations of the Indian army played a vital role in the decisive victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war. Many civilian dignitaries are also expected to mark the occasion.
