How did Karen Adams die?

Karen Renee Adams comes from a large family. She lived with her parents in Whitehall, Ohio, and her relatives described the 17-year-old as compassionate and generous. At the time, she was working at a local steakhouse and saving money to buy a car before quitting a bit later. Karen dreamed of becoming a lab technician and worked hard to achieve her goals. On March 9, 1975, she went out in the evening telling her parents that she was going to get clothes from a friend.

Karen’s parents expected her to be home within an hour, but started to worry when she didn’t show up even at 11 p.m. that night. When they checked with Karen’s friend, they learned that she had never been there. Eventually, she was reported missing. The authorities then realized that Karen had other plans when she left the house: she wanted to meet a boyfriend in a nearby supermarket.

Sadly, Karen’s search came to an end when two men found her body in a ditch the following evening. Karen was about six miles from her house. Their prayers were rewarded when the lab returned with not one but two male DNA profiles. This meant that maybe two men had attacked Karen.

While checking out via CODIS, one of the profiles returned a match to a man named Robert Meyer. Soon the authorities learned of the existence of Charles Weber, who ran in the same circles. The two had met in prison and had extensive criminal backgrounds. Robert was sent to prison for ten years after hitting someone on the head with a hammer during a robbery.
