A Spooky Event – The Oracle

The Residential Housing Association (RHA) Haunted Hallway event is sure to delight, as there are plenty of activities and hangouts planned for this fun and spooky evening.

Something scary comes your way. Haunted corridor Wednesday, October 27 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the hall of the mansion.

The chill in the air, the changing leaves, and the skeletons hanging from dormitory windows can only mean one thing: Halloween is right around the corner. It’s time to get scared, and RHA knows exactly how to do it. Much to the delight of many students, the beloved Haunted Hallway event is back this year after a hiatus last year due to COVID-19. The Residential Housing Association is planning the event, and this year there’s plenty to be excited about.

Haunted Hallway, located in Manor Hall, offers many activities. Typically, there are tables with different organizations on campus, a photo booth, prizes, fun costumes, and, of course, spooky rooms.

Jessie Luévano, co-chair of RHA, is thrilled with this year’s haunted hallway event.

“There will be prizes, spooky things and a photo booth to take pictures with your friends and your Halloween costumes,” Luévano said. “In the basement of the mansion, we have a bunch of spooky rooms and a guide that takes you to each one.”

Different organizations and residential program committees have set up these spooky rooms, and they all have a different theme.

Regarding COVID-19 safety, Luévano is confident in the safety of the event.

“We’re trying to keep the tours a bit smaller than they’ve been for the past few years, just for social distancing,” Luévano said. “We are confident that we can keep people away at separate tables, and the attractions are in separate rooms.”

As with all other events in Hamline, a mask is also required.

RHA is involved in many ways on campus, not just for the Haunted Hallway event.

“The Late Night Study Breakfast (LNSB) is the biggest spring and fall event. We organize philanthropic events and last year we made improvements to the dormitories,” said Luévano. “Each residence has its own residential programming committee and organizes an event every month.”

Ensuring student voices and ideas are heard is a top priority for Luévano and RHA as a whole.
